COMPOST HUBS

We are helping community organizations set up Compost Hubs in neighborhoods all throughout Brooklyn so more people have access to food scrap drop-offs.

Without funding from the city, we’re asking that you donate what you can to support our initiative. You can donate in person at a Hub or through our website.

Suggested donation per drop-off: $5
More is always welcome + highly appreciated.

We are accepting preorders for our organic and locally sourced Farmer’s Choice Produce Bags for pick-up at the Hub of your choice. (S)$15 / (L)$25

Feeling generous? You can even sponsor a bag for someone in need attending the site. Your name will be recognized on the bag and anyone with SNAP benefits is qualified to claim it. Best of all, proceeds go towards expanding drop-off sites closer to you!

*Pre-order by midnight on Wednesday to pick up Sunday. All orders placed afterwards will be available for pick up the following week.

Compost Hub No. 1 - Groundcycle x Vinegar Hill Community Garden

199 York Street, Brooklyn

Sundays from 12:30-2p

Vinegar Hill Community Garden was established in 2013 and has been a favorite in the neighborhood ever since. We are partnering with them to start our very first Compost Hub program. We are accepting pre-orders for our Farmer's Choice Produce Bags for pick up during the food scrap drop-off.

Please make sure to follow our Compost Guide, wear a mask and be prepared to empty your compost into our container.

Want a Compost Hub in your neighborhood?

We encourage you to talk to your community fridge, garden, church, or any other favorite neighborhood establishment about becoming a Hub. Let us know if you have any suggestions.

Once we work out the details, Groundcycle will help sites become Compost Hubs by providing supplies, bringing volunteers, and transporting the compost away at the end of the food scrap drop-off.
